The Best Video Games Of The Year 2002

Last time we took a look at the best games of the year 2001. Here are my picks for the best games of the year 2002. I’m only including games I’ve played as it wouldn’t be an authentic list if I included a game simply due to popularity.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

From an aesthetically pleasing and vibrant representation of 80s Miami to a masterfully crafted soundtrack, there’s alot of nostalgia happening here. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City took the formula from the previous game to make something quite memorable.

Scooby-Doo! Night Of 100 Frights

I hardly remember the premise of this game but I very vividly remember playing on a playground in the opening level of the game. Such a small detail made a lasting impression in an adolescent mind.

Freekstyle

This may seem like an average motocross game by today’s standards, but in 2002 this game was tons of fun. It allowed for endless good times to be had, and I’m not even a fan of racing games. I just adore this game.

Tom And Jerry In War Of The Whiskers

A follow up fighting game to Tom and Jerry in Fists of Furry, War of The Whiskers improved upon the first game in many ways. Tom and Jerry needs a game reboot. This is a must play for fans of the classic TV show.

WWE SmackDown! Shut Your Mouth

Being the first wrestling game to feature a fully explorable arena during the season mode, this game was revolutionary. It brought about concepts that have yet to be topped in the wrestling game genre. This would definitely be in my top 5 wrestling games of all time.

Conclusion

These are what I deem the best games of the year 2002. Next time we’ll take a look at the best games of the year 2003. This will continue until we reach the best games of the year 2021. Embrace the nostalgia.
