There’s many developers in the video game industry that go above and beyond for their fans. While not all of them have the best practices, some remain personal favorites of mine.
This list doesn’t represent my favorite games of all time, but rather developers that put out hit after hit. I’m only including developers that I’ve played multiple titles from as I can’t base my opinion on a single game. Here are my top 5 video game developers. This list is subject to change.
- Bend Studio
- Insomniac Games
- Telltale Games
- Undead Labs
- Guerrilla Games
5. Supermassive Games
This spot was hard to pick as it meant that this studio just barely made my top 5 but I believe Supermassive Games deserves it. They surely know how to make great horror games full of twists and turns. Personal favorites include Until Dawn and Little Hope.
4. Quantic Dream
From Heavy Rain to Detroit: Become Human, Quantic Dream have proven time and time again that they are the best at making decision-based games. I have previously reviewed their game Beyond: Two Souls which I personally loved and I’d venture to say it’s in my top 10 games of all time.
Capcom are really honing their craft as of late with their Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes. They know what makes a great survival horror and inventory management system. I’m beyond excited for the horrors that await us with Resident Evil Village.
2. Rockstar Games
What would a top 5 list be without Rockstar Games? They’re a household name at this point with titles like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. A personal favorite is Bully on the PS2 which a review is in the works for.
1. Naughty Dog
Where to start with this one. Naughty Dog have been my favorite since I was a kid with Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot. Uncharted is also phenomenal but what really gets my attention is The Last of Us as that’s very possibly my favorite game of all time. I wrote a review of The Last of Us Part 2 which I believe surpasses the original in many ways.
Do you agree with my picks? Who are your favorite developers; likewise, what’s your favorite game from that developer? I’d love to hear your picks!
